Father Donated Kidney to Daughter in Poland – Ended Up in Coma

A father, Przemysław Saleta, donated a kidney to his daughter and subsequently faced severe complications leading to a coma, but he made a full recovery after a few weeks.

Przemysław Saleta, a former professional boxer, made the ultimate sacrifice for his 13-year-old daughter Nicole by donating a kidney to her after she was diagnosed with kidney failure. The donation took place in Poland, and although Saleta's act of love was heroic, it came with unexpected consequences. Just six days post-surgery, he began experiencing severe health issues, including internal bleeding that required immediate surgery and respiratory difficulties, leading to his admission to the intensive care unit and a subsequent coma.

Fortunately, after a couple of weeks in the hospital, Saleta made a full recovery and was able to return home. He described the complications he faced as extremely rare, stating that such issues occur only once in several tens of thousands of operations. His experience highlights the potential risks associated with organ donation, albeit they are uncommon. Despite the ordeal, Saleta reported that his life with one kidney has been problem-free; he feels no different and continues to express his deep love for his daughter.

Saleta's story serves as an inspiring reminder of familial bonds and the sacrifices that parents are willing to make for their children. It also sheds light on the medical complexities surrounding organ transplants and the often-overlooked risks that can follow these life-saving procedures, reminding both donors and recipients of the importance of comprehensive medical care and support during recovery.
