Earlier today, there was significant upheaval at the Fire Department of Volos following an alert about a probable issue at a sweets processing facility just before the entrance of Portaria, located on the road leading to Katichori in the wider Volos area. The call came in around 14:30 when workers at the site detected a strong odor, which they suspected might be related to flammable gas, leading them to immediately inform the authorities. In addition, the building was evacuated to ensure the safety of both staff and customers.

A substantial firefighting force was deployed to the scene, consisting of four water trucks and three support vehicles. Firefighters remained on high alert as they assessed all potential scenarios.
