A driver lost control and crashed into another vehicle early Monday morning on the Mogi-Bertioga highway in Brazil, resulting in injuries and blockages on the route.
In the early hours of Monday, a driver lost control of his vehicle on the Dom Paulo Rolim Loureiro Highway (SP-098), also known as the Mogi-Bertioga highway, in Biritiba-Mirim, Brazil. The incident occurred around 1 AM, as the driver was heading towards Bertioga and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with another car. Emergency responders reported that three individuals were trapped in the wreckage, while others declined medical assistance and some were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The São Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp) confirmed the events and provided information on the response efforts. The situation led to a complete closure of the roadway from 1:14 AM to 2:25 AM, during which time towing services were utilized to remove the vehicles involved in the collision. Additionally, oil was found on the road, prompting agents to apply sawdust to mitigate any further hazards.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety on the Mogi-Bertioga highway, which is a known route for travelers in the region. The quick response from both the emergency services and the highway concessionaire was crucial in addressing the aftermath of the crash, but it raises awareness of the need for vigilance among drivers, particularly during nighttime travel when visibility can be reduced.
