A Cold Shower for the Government from Entrepreneurs – Pura's Support Surprises

Entrepreneur satisfaction with the Finnish government has dropped significantly, according to a recent poll by Suomen Yrittäjät.

Entrepreneurs in Finland have expressed a significant decrease in satisfaction with the government, according to a recent survey conducted by Suomen Yrittäjät. Currently, only 36% of entrepreneurs are satisfied with the government's performance, a notable decline from 42% earlier in May. This decline is attributed to economic stagnation, a lack of growth, and the increasing burden of public debt, as noted by Mikael Pentikäinen, the Executive Director of Suomen Yrittäjät.

Among those most critical of the government are solo entrepreneurs, women, and younger individuals, while larger businesses with over ten employees and those in the construction industry reported higher satisfaction levels. The survey also revealed a divided opinion regarding key government figures; 41% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Finance Minister Riikka Pura, compared to Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s 37%, suggesting a relative favorability towards Pura amid rising dissatisfaction with Orpo.

Pentikäinen pointed out that dissatisfaction is primarily directed at Prime Minister Orpo, although he acknowledged that the Prime Minister’s ability to influence economic growth is limited. The findings of this poll may indicate a growing disconnect between the government and the entrepreneurial community, highlighting the need for a strategic shift to address the pressing concerns of Finnish entrepreneurs.
