In 2025, the customs office in Nuevo Laredo achieved a remarkable revenue collection of 215,227.1 million pesos, representing 47.1% of the total income generated by border customs across Mexico. This figure highlights Nuevo Laredo's pivotal role in the nation's import and export activities and its strategic importance in trade relations, especially with the United States. The collection data was released by the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) in a recent report.

Following Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juárez ranked second in customs revenue collection, bringing in 64,213.7 million pesos, which corresponds to a 14% share of the total customs earnings. Reynosa, Colombia, and Matamoros followed suit with collections of 32,382.4 million pesos (7.1%), 31,238.9 million pesos (6.8%), and 30,060 million pesos (6.6%), respectively. Collectively, these five customs offices accounted for approximately 81.6% of the total revenue collected at all border customs, underscoring the significance of these locations in facilitating trade.

The emphasis placed by the Secretary of Finance on the high revenue generation from these customs points can be interpreted as a strong signal of the robust economic activities occurring in these border regions.
