Demanding weather conditions in Bormio, Zubčić the only Croat in the second run
Filip Zubčić is the sole Croatian skier to qualify for the second run in the slalom event at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, while his teammates Samuel Kolega and Istok Rodeš did not finish the race.
At the Winter Olympics being held in Milan and Cortina, the men's alpine skiing slalom event took place under challenging weather conditions. Filip Zubčić emerged as the only representative from Croatia to advance to the second run, following strong performances amid difficult weather. His fellow competitors, Samuel Kolega and Istok Rodeš, unfortunately, could not complete the course, marking a tough day for the Croatian team.
As Zubčić prepared for the second run, he was currently positioned in 15th place with a time of 58.93 seconds. The leaderboard was led by Norwegian skier Atle Lie McGrath, who clocked 56.14 seconds, followed by Switzerland's Loic Meillard and Austria's Fabio Gstrein. The conditions were notably challenging, testing the skill and perseverance of all athletes participating in this crucial Olympic event.
The second run is scheduled to take place at 1:30 pm local time, with coverage available on HTV’s Second Program and the HRTi platform.
