Police arrest four over murder of three Cameroonians in Anambra
Four additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of three Cameroonian nationals in Nigeria's Anambra State.
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four more suspects related to the tragic murder of three Cameroonian nationals. This incident occurred in November 2025 when the victims were reportedly kidnapped and subsequently killed by a gang of assailants. Their bodies were later discovered floating in a river within the Anambra West Local Government Area, prompting an urgent police investigation to reveal the perpetrators behind this heinous crime.
Initially, two suspects were arrested after police found evidence leading to their apprehension, who later provided crucial information that led to the identification of additional accomplices in the murder. Following their confessions, the police intensified their efforts, which culminated in the arrest of four more suspects on February 13, 2026. These arrests took place in a shrine located in the Nando area of Anambra East, during a confrontation that involved gunfire between the suspects and the police.
Anambra State Police Spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the operation, highlighting the recovery of weapons during the arrests, which included two pump action guns and a locally made pistol. This case underscores ongoing issues related to kidnapping and violence in Nigeria, especially in states like Anambra, raising concerns over security and the enforcement of law and order in the region.
