Watch.. A baboon monkey invades a mosque and drives worshippers to flee

A baboon monkey caused chaos at a mosque in Uganda, prompting worshippers to flee out of fear.

A significant incident was reported by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) where a large baboon entered a mosque in the Busika area of the Luwero district. The unexpected presence of the baboon startled the worshippers, leading to panic and a rush for the exit as they feared a potential attack. In an effort to secure the area, the worshippers quickly closed the mosque doors to prevent the baboon from escaping and causing further disturbances outside.

As the situation unfolded, those present attempted to calm the baboon by offering it bananas, hoping to keep it contained until rescue teams could arrive. A video capturing this unusual event shows the baboon sitting calmly near one of the walls in the prayer hall, while in the background, a mix of astonished laughter and comments in local languages highlighted the blend of shock and amusement felt by the viewers. The incident illustrates the connection between wildlife and human environments, often leading to unexpected encounters.

The UWA reported that wildlife teams promptly arrived at the scene and were able to safely manage the baboon. It was relocated to Murchison Falls National Park, where it would undergo thorough health monitoring before being reintegrated into its natural group. This incident raises awareness about the need for wildlife management and the importance of maintaining a safe distance between wild animals and human activities, especially in regions where such overlaps are common.
