Between committees, aperitifs, and Meloni in the city
The campaign for the justice referendum in Lombardy intensifies, with Brothers of Italy mobilizing key figures, including Giorgia Meloni, to promote the reform.
In Lombardy, the campaign for the justice referendum is entering its critical phase, with Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy) preparing to rally their influential leaders to support a 'Yes' vote for the judicial reform. Notable figures such as Giorgia Meloni, along with her sister Arianna, are set to be actively involved in promoting the reform agenda. The campaign is expected to include participation from legal chambers, and key government officials, including Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro, Senator Marcello Pera, and Deputy Giovanni Donzelli, will also play significant roles in the push for the referendum.
Carlo Maccari, the Lombardy coordinator for Fratelli d'Italia, emphasized that while the party is enthusiastic about supporting the referendum, it should not be viewed as a referendum on the government itself, which he claims is stable. He highlighted the importance of keeping the focus on the reform rather than political sentiments against the government. This perspective underscores the party's strategy to maintain a united front and avoid associating the referendum outcome too closely with the current political landscape.
Additionally, the Lega party will also be mobilizing their support for the referendum. Mario Mantovani, a European Parliament member and former Lombardy health assessor, noted his commitment to creating dialogues by hosting events with members from both Fratelli d'Italia and the opposition Democratic Party (PD). Such interdisciplinary engagements aim to signify the need for a neutral judge in the discussions surrounding the referendum, reflecting the broader implications of the judicial reform on the political dynamics within Italy.
