ELECTRICITY CLOCK β© Electricity is especially expensive on Monday
On Monday, the average electricity price in Estonia will rise significantly due to volatility in the Nord Pool electricity market.
A new week begins with steep electricity prices for consumers in Estonia. The average price of electricity on the Nord Pool electricity exchange in the Estonian pricing area is expected to rise significantly on Monday, exceeding Sundayβs rates by 21.9%, reaching an average price of 191.37 euros. Consumers should brace for sharp price fluctuations throughout the day, particularly noticeable during peak hours.
The peak price of electricity is anticipated to occur between 8:30 and 8:45 AM, during which time the cost is expected to surge to 400 euros. This stark increase highlights the volatility in energy prices that consumers are currently facing. Conversely, the best time for consumers was right after midnight, where the price dropped to 53.08 euros per megawatt-hour between 00:45 and 01:00, showing a drastic difference in pricing depending on the time of day.
When compared to neighboring countries, electricity prices in Estonia are on par with those in Latvia and Lithuania. However, Finland's prices are notably lower, approximately 63% cheaper at an average of just 71.24 euros. This disparity in electricity pricing raises questions about the market factors affecting regional prices and the broader implications for energy consumption patterns among consumers in the Baltic region.
