Winter is not retreating: at the beginning of the week - up to 26 degrees of frost
Lithuania is experiencing extremely low temperatures, with some areas forecasted to reach as low as -26 degrees Celsius this week.
Lithuania is facing a significant cold spell at the start of the week, with forecasts predicting temperatures dropping to as low as -26 degrees Celsius in some areas. The weather will be influenced by a weak northeastern and easterly wind, bringing about clear skies following a cold night, and temperatures will climb slightly during the day, ranging from -6 to -11 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday night, the clouds are expected to clear, leading to clearer skies and a lack of snowfall. Winds will be moderate, blowing up to 5-10 m/s, and may reach 11-13 m/s near the coast. The forecast suggests that night temperatures could plunge further, with many areas experiencing between -16 to -21 degrees Celsius, making the cold particularly severe in northeastern regions of Lithuania.
As the week progresses, on Wednesday, atmospheric pressure is forecasted to begin decreasing due to the approach of a low-pressure system. This will result in increased cloud cover in the southwestern part of the country and potential light snowfall. The forecast indicates that temperatures will remain extremely low, with expected readings of -14 to -19 degrees, continuing the trend of harsh winter conditions across Lithuania.
