The teen recounted during the trial that the driver suddenly yelled at him with threats of running him over, and even made ominous statements suggesting he would shoot him. In a panic, the boy swerved onto a dirt path leading to a sports field, trying to escape the threatening vehicle.

Subsequently, the man struck the boy with the front bumper of his car, although the boy managed to keep his balance and continued cycling away.
