National Museum of Ecuador calls for architectural studies to participate in the pre-project of its new building
The National Museum of Ecuador is inviting national and international architectural studies to submit portfolios for the design of a new building by February 17.
The National Museum of Ecuador (MuNA) has announced on its social media platforms that it is nearing the establishment of a dedicated physical space. The museum is currently inviting both national and international architectural firms to submit their portfolios for the pre-project of its new building, with submissions accepted until February 17. The call for proposals is facilitated by the government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Culture, and with technical guidance from the Ecuadorian Architects Association (CAE-P).
MuNA is home to over 1.2 million cultural and heritage items, reflecting 12,000 years of history and representing the most significant collection in the country. The aim of the new building project includes designing a space that encompasses a total area of 13,004.65 square meters, which will incorporate exhibition halls, conservation and research areas, educational spaces, public zones, and a landscaping plan that enhances the connection with the urban environment.
This initiative not only signifies a step forward in preserving and presenting Ecuador's rich heritage but also serves to engage the architectural community in constructing a landmark that will communicate the importance of cultural preservation in the modern urban landscape. The development of MuNA's new building is intended to facilitate a broader engagement with both the local and international communities through exhibitions and educational programming.
