Popular Carnival of Maués continues with samba schools until Tuesday (17) in AM
The Popular Carnival of Maués in the Amazonas state of Brazil features samba school parades and large crowds celebrating until Tuesday, February 17.
The Popular Carnival of Maués, located in the interior of Amazonas, Brazil, commenced on Friday, February 13, with vibrant parades of various samba blocks drawing thousands of attendees on Avenida Dr. Pereira Barreto in the Maresia neighborhood. Five groups from the Access category and six from the Special Group showcased their performances over the weekend, engaging the audience with elaborate costumes, themed paraders, and lively music celebrating local culture.
On the first day, samba blocks such as Os Estivadores, FLA Maués, Vira Copu’s, As Catiporas, and Os Brotinhos entertained crowds with their dynamic entries filled with creativity and energy. The subsequent day saw the Special Group take center stage with performances by Fura Olho, Bloco Tradição, Kbeça de Touro, Bloco da Saúde, Os Mortos Vivos, and Toca Folia. These displays not only entertained but also paid tribute to notable local figures, further instilling a sense of pride and community through themes inspired by local traditions and the region’s unique cultural heritage.
The Carnival festivities will continue on Sunday, February 15, featuring samba schools like Império Verde e Rosa and Unidos do Ramalho Júnior, culminating in an exciting series of events that are expected to further highlight the rich traditions of the region as residents and visitors alike gather to celebrate the joyous occasion through song, dance, and festivity on the streets of Maués.
