Three Norwegians Charged in Major Cocaine Smuggling Case in Sweden

Three Norwegians have been charged in a significant drug smuggling case in Sweden involving 1.5 tons of cocaine.

Three Norwegians have been indicted in a major drug smuggling case in Sweden where it is alleged they unloaded 1.5 tons of cocaine from a banana container in Helsingborg last May. The complete case involves six men total, three of whom are Norwegians, with one being just 17 years old at the time of the alleged crime, while the others are in their 30s. All accused individuals maintain their innocence, as reported by NRK.

The seized amount of cocaine has an estimated street value of nearly 1.5 billion Swedish Krona, marking this case as one of the most severe drug-related allegations according to Karin Lundström-Kron, the prosecutor in charge of international and organized crime cases in Sweden. The cocaine was reportedly shipped from Ecuador to Sweden via the Netherlands and was picked up by a driver presenting false documentation.

In the operations, the three Norwegians are said to have loaded a total of 104 black bags containing the cocaine from the shipping container, which were then transported to an apartment in Malmö. Law enforcement has already recovered over 200 kilograms of the drug, with most of it found contained in blue Ikea bags, highlighting the scale and organizational nature of this smuggling operation.
