Slippery roads in Eastern Norway β Allow plenty of time
Drivers in Eastern Norway are advised to take extra care and allow additional time for travel due to extremely slippery roads caused by freezing rain and icy conditions.
Drivers in Eastern Norway are being warned to prepare for hazardous travel conditions this Sunday evening as warning for slippery roads has been issued. The dangerous conditions are primarily due to freezing rain and sleet that has turned into ice on the roads. Those planning to travel should anticipate delays and allow up to an hour more for their journeys. The affected area spans from Follo and SΓΈndre Buskerud down south, extending up to Innlandet in the north.
In addition to affecting traffic flow, the icy conditions have already caused accidents on the roads, including a notable front-end collision between two vehicles in Kongsberg, involving Danish drivers, though thankfully no serious injuries were reported. Reports of slippery conditions have also come from the E6 highway through Romerike, where several accidents occurred in the same timeframe. Drivers have noted issues such as freezing rain adhering to windshields, making visibility difficult and contributing to the overall dangerous driving conditions.
Pedestrians are similarly advised to exercise caution and wear either ice grips or studded shoes when traversing the area. The warnings remain in effect until Monday morning, emphasizing the need for vigilance among all transport users to ensure safety amidst the unexpected winter weather in the region.
