The Election Commission will camp in Assam for three days to review voting arrangements

The Election Commission of India is set to assess election preparations in Assam ahead of the upcoming assembly elections during a three-day visit led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

In anticipation of the upcoming assembly elections in Assam, the Election Commission of India is embarking on a three-day visit to review its preparations. The delegation, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, will arrive in Guwahati on Monday and includes senior officials such as Election Commissioners Dr. Sukbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vinod Joshi. They will be in Assam until Wednesday night, after which they will return to Delhi.

During their visit, the Election Commission team is scheduled to meet with representatives of political parties to discuss the electoral preparations, measures to ensure free and fair voting, and the challenges faced in gaining political party cooperation. The primary aim of these discussions is to gather suggestions on how to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of the election process, addressing issues pertinent to both the commission and the involved parties.

In addition to engaging with political representatives, the commission will hold extensive meetings with administrative officials, including Assam's Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Chief Electoral Officer, and senior police officers. Important dialogues will also take place with district magistrates, who serve as district election officers, and district police to ensure collaborative efforts at various levels for successful election management.
