The finals of the 'Latvian Young Virtuoso' competition will be held on February 15, showcasing young musicians with the Sinfonietta Rīga orchestra and aiming to select a candidate for Yerevan.
The finals of the 'Latvian Young Virtuoso' competition are set to take place on February 15 at 18:30, broadcasted on LTV1 and REplay.lv, as well as aired on Latvijas Radio 3 'Klasika'. This event involves young musicians aged 12 to 21 from professional music schools across various Latvian cities including Riga, Cesis, Daugavpils, Rezekne, Ventspils, Jelgava, Jurmala, and Liepaja. Two candidates were selected from each educational institution by their teachers and management to compete in the finals.
Auditions were held on January 14, 2026, where candidates performed two classical pieces. A jury composed of classical music experts and representatives from LSM chose six outstanding finalists: Anton Pizāns, Oskars Tamans, Jeļena Jasjuļaņeca, Kristiāns Gorbatko, Sonja Misiņa, and Paula Stradiņa. This competition marks a historical moment as the Latvian public media returns to the search for new musical talents, echoing the sentiments of previous enrolments into the Eurovision Young Musicians event, fostering a new generation of classical musicians that could represent Latvia on an international stage.
