On Sunday morning, October 15, a tragic accident occurred on the Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros Highway (SP-294) in Duartina, Brazil, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. According to the concessionaire Eixo SP, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his motorcycle. The vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier located in the lateral median, collided with signalling devices, and the rider was thrown into a ravine. Reports indicated that the accident caused a full closure of the roadway.

Following the incident, the Military Highway Police (PMRv) monitored the situation and allowed a friend of the deceased to retrieve the motorcycle from the scene. The roadway experienced complete blockage of all lanes and the shoulder heading east at around 7:53 AM, but by 11:30 AM, only the shoulder remained closed. Thankfully, there were no reports of traffic congestion in the vicinity, which suggests prompt clearance efforts were undertaken by the authorities.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on highways, particularly on busy routes like the SP-294.
