'We stand firmly with the defense forces and will take necessary steps,' says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening the defense forces and modernizing the defense sector during an interview with PTI.

In an interview with the PTI news agency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the government stands firmly with the defense forces and is committed to implementing necessary measures to strengthen them. He highlighted that modernizing the defense sector in line with current conditions is the government's duty, which is reflected in the increased defense budget for the upcoming fiscal years. Modi asserted that these enhancements are crucial for securing India's national interests and fostering a robust defense framework.

Additionally, Modi pointed out the importance of the private sector in facilitating the next phase of economic transformation in India. He advised that private enterprises should focus less on mere margin preservation and invest more significantly in research and development as well as supply chain quality. This proactive approach is essential for the country to prepare for a more competitive environment in defense manufacturing and innovation, ultimately aligning with India's aspirations for economic development and self-reliance in defense.

Furthermore, Modi described the current budget as a strategic vision towards India becoming a developed nation, rather than a rushed decision made out of necessity. He stated that this year's budget symbolizes readiness and inspiration, encapsulated in the phrase 'We are ready.' The planned increase in the defense expenditure to ₹6.81 lakh crores signals a strong commitment to ensure national security and align with broader developmental goals for the year 2026 and beyond, indicating a strategic pivot towards comprehensive national progress.
