Millions of beneficiaries.. The Egyptian government announces new aid for citizens (Video)

The Egyptian government has announced a new social protection package aimed at supporting low-income families, totaling around 40 billion Egyptian pounds.

During a press conference on Sunday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced a new social protection package designed to support vulnerable groups in the country amidst economic challenges. The package, confirmed to cost approximately 40 billion Egyptian pounds, will be disbursed from now until the end of the current fiscal year. It aims to alleviate the economic pressures faced by low-income households due to inflation and rising living costs.

The government's announcement includes several cash assistance measures, providing an additional 400 Egyptian pounds to 10 million families registered on food subsidy cards in March and April, which will cost 8 billion Egyptian pounds. Furthermore, there is a plan to distribute 400 pounds in additional cash support during Ramadan and Eid for 5.2 million families benefiting from the "Takaful and Karama" programs, costing 4 billion pounds. Additional support will be given to 45 thousand recipients of children's pensions and rural leaders during the same festive period to ensure that the most vulnerable groups receive help.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to social welfare, particularly as the nation grapples with economic challenges influenced by both local economic conditions and external factors. The prompt provision of funds is also aimed at reducing patient waiting lists in hospitals for urgent medical cases, further underlining the government's focus on healthcare and social support amidst rising living costs and economic strain the citizens are currently experiencing.
