High demand at Costa Bus Terminal forces doubling of bus frequencies during the holiday
The Costa Bus Terminal in Guayaquil has increased bus frequencies to accommodate the high demand from travelers during the holiday, moving from hourly departures to every 30 minutes.
The Costa Bus Terminal, located at km 33 of the Perimetral Road in Guayaquil, experienced its first holiday since opening in January 2026, attracting numerous travelers eager to visit coastal tourist destinations. On Saturday, February 14, the terminal saw many families arriving with beach gear, illustrating the popularity of holiday getaways. It was reported that around 23,000 users were expected to be mobilized to popular tourist spots along the coast, illuminating the importance of this transportation hub during peak travel times.
Due to the soaring demand on the first day of the holiday, the local municipality made the decision to increase the bus services significantly. Instead of the usual hourly departures, buses now leave every 30 minutes to help accommodate the influx of travelers. This adjustment was implemented across six active transportation cooperatives operating within the terminal, ensuring a better flow of passengers going to their desired destinations.
The rapid increase in bus frequencies reflects both the popularity of beach tourism in Ecuador and the growing reliance on the Costa Bus Terminal as a central transit point for holiday goers. The effective management of transportation during such peak times is crucial not only for passenger convenience but also for supporting the local economy through tourism.
