Wants 153 million for the embassy in Oslo
The Slovak state is selling its large villa in Oslo, which has housed its embassy, for 153.5 million kroner after closing the embassy.
The Slovak government has put its prestigious villa located in the embassy district of Oslo up for sale at a price of 153.5 million kroner. This decision comes after Slovakia closed its embassy in Norway, prompting the sale of the property that has been under its ownership since 1973—initially serving as the Czechoslovak embassy and later as the Slovak embassy from 1993.
The villa, which spans 795 square meters and sits on a 1,595 square meter plot, is on the market after being available off-market for about a week. Terje Tinholt, a partner at Tinholt Eiendomsmegling, revealed that there is already interest from various potential buyers, including wealthy private individuals and other embassies. He emphasized that the set asking price reflects the property's value, as negotiations are ongoing with serious buyers.
Having a historical significance, the villa was designed by architect Nittedals and includes two separate buildings, with its main structure dating back to 1905. This sale not only highlights Slovakia’s changes to its diplomatic presence in Norway but also indicates the ongoing interest in prime real estate in Oslo's embassy area, potentially influencing future diplomatic real estate investments.
