V. Strolia starts his third Olympic pursuit race
Lithuanian biathlete V. Strolia commenced his third Olympic pursuit race, starting in 49th place and facing challenges in his shooting accuracy.
V. Strolia began his third Olympic pursuit race at 12:15 PM Lithuanian time, starting from the 49th position. During his first shooting round, he missed one shot, which forced him to complete a penalty lap. Following this, he found himself in 47th place going into the second shooting series. In the second round, he made another mistake but managed to improve his position to 43rd, lagging behind the leader by 3 minutes and 35.1 seconds.
On Friday, Strolia concluded his sprint race in 49th place, finishing 2 minutes and 44.3 seconds behind the champion, Quentin Fillon Maillet from France. This competition marks the third consecutive Olympic pursuit race for the 33-year-old Strolia, who previously finished 43rd in Pyeongchang in 2018 and 58th in Beijing in 2022. His performance continues to reflect his development as a competitor across these significant events, although he still faces tough competition.
The best result in independent Lithuania's biathlon history was achieved in the pursuit race by Tomas Kaukėnas, who secured 13th place in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. Strolia's ongoing participation in the Olympics highlights both the progress of Lithuanian biathlon on the international stage and the personal journey of Strolia as he competes at the highest level against the world’s best athletes.
