After the competition, V. Strolia decided to open up - very sensitive words flew from the lips of the biathlete

Lithuanian biathlete V. Strolia reflects on his Olympic performance, achieving a personal best yet expressing disappointment over unmet expectations.

Lithuanian biathlete V. Strolia participated in the 12.5 km pursuit race, finishing with a time of 35 minutes and 38.4 seconds and completing three penalty laps. The gold medal was won by Sweden's Martin Ponsiluoma, who secured the first medal in biathlon for Sweden, with a time of 31 minutes and 11.0 seconds. Strolia's performance marks his best placement among Lithuanian athletes over the last three Olympic Games, yet he finished feeling disappointed with his results.

At 33 years old, this was Strolia's third Olympic pursuit event. In his previous Olympic appearances in 2018 and 2022, he finished 43rd and 58th respectively. Despite achieving his personal best in the Olympics, he expressed dissatisfaction in an interview, stating that he didn't meet expectations but acknowledged that life goes on and there are more important things beyond his sport.

With his current results, Strolia will not qualify for the prestigious mixed relay events, and he remains focused on the men's relay competition in the winter Olympics. This reflects not only his journey as an athlete from independent Lithuania but highlights the emotional complexity athletes face when balancing personal goals against the pressures of international competition.
