In the early hours of Sunday, a fire broke out in a two-story residential building in the Barta region of South Kurzeme Municipality, prompting a response from the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) at 4:18 AM. Before the firefighters arrived, a neighbor managed to save a person from the flames, who was subsequently handed over to the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) for assistance. Tragically, a dog died as a result of the incident, highlighting the devastating impact of the fire. The VUGD reported that firefighting efforts were concluded by 7:26 AM, indicating a prompt response to the emergency situation.
