'Neither seated in business class nor given non-vegetarian food...', dispute between passenger and crew member during flight
A dispute arose between a passenger and airline crew on a Bengaluru-Lucknow flight over seating and meal issues, leading to police intervention post-landing.
A serious altercation occurred at the Lucknow airport when passengers on a flight arriving from Bengaluru reported issues related to seating and food. The incident escalated to a point where the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had to intervene, handing the passenger over to local police due to the severity of the claims made by both parties. This situation reflects a growing concern regarding customer service and passenger treatment in the aviation sector.
The passenger involved, Ankit Sahay, was traveling with his wife and three-year-old child. He alleged that despite holding a business class ticket, he was forcibly made to sit in economy class. To exacerbate the situation, he also claimed that instead of the pre-booked non-vegetarian meal, he was served a vegetarian meal, prompting a dispute over what is perceived to be inadequate and disrespectful service from the airline crew. Moreover, he narrated an experience of being deprived of basic amenities like water during the flight, which further intensified the frustration.
Upon landing in Lucknow, Sahay reported that he and his family were not allowed to deboard the aircraft for hours, experiencing undue stress and discomfort. He accused the airline of treating them as hostages and inflicting psychological torment. The incident has sparked discussions about the importance of proper protocol and respect for passengers' rights in the airline industry, highlighting a need for greater accountability from airline services in handling customer complaints.
