The 13th pension is not for everyone. These seniors will not receive the benefit
The 2023 13th pension in Poland will be higher than last year, but not all seniors will qualify for this additional benefit due to regulatory stipulations.
Poland's 13th pension for the year 2023 is set to exceed last year's amount, as announced by officials, with specifics regarding its valuation now available. This additional payment, however, is not universally available to all retirees, and eligibility is dictated by specific regulations. In April, the social insurance institution (ZUS) will distribute the '13th pension' to millions of seniors, along with other entities such as the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) and military pension offices.
Most seniors of retirement age qualify for this benefit, which will be provided regardless of their regular pension amount. The 13th pension is distributed automatically, ensuring that the set amount is identical for all recipients. This yearly payment is scheduled to reach seniors' bank accounts alongside their April pensions or benefits for those on pre-retirement assistance, with a following disbursement in May for eligible individuals.
The current ruling on who qualifies for the 13th pension clarifies the administrative procedures in place, reflecting the government's ongoing commitment to providing support to a majority of retirees while emphasizing defined eligibility criteria. This policy aims at providing necessary financial assistance to the elderly population, though it also notes that a minority will not benefit from this initiative due to the outlined regulations.
