Imran Khan to be moved from jail to hospital, PTI warns government

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently imprisoned, is being transferred to a hospital due to worsening health conditions, which include significant loss of vision.

Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, is currently serving time in jail and has recently been experiencing declining health, with reports indicating that he has lost about 85% vision in one eye. In light of his deteriorating condition, the authorities have decided to transfer him to a hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. Alongside this shift, it has been announced that Khan will also be allowed to speak with his children over the phone, which marks a significant policy adjustment amid concerns for his well-being.

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs in Pakistan, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, has publicly shared these developments via social media, stating that the decision for Khan's hospitalization follows humanitarian considerations. Furthermore, he has advised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to avoid politicizing Khan's health issues, emphasizing that it is the government's responsibility to ensure the welfare of all prisoners, particularly in sensitive matters concerning health.

Chaudhry reiterated that the government prioritizes human compassion and legal obligations, urging PTI to refrain from unfounded accusations or political maneuvering surrounding Khan's medical situation. This situation highlights the contentious political environment in Pakistan, where health concerns for a high-profile prisoner like Khan can quickly become a focal point for political debate and action.
