The situation escalated when a video went viral on social media, depicting the father engaged in discussions with a buyer about the price of the child. The viral nature of the video prompted local social activist intervention, which led to a formal complaint being filed at the Nilgiri police station.
Following the complaint, police authorities acted swiftly to verify the authenticity of the video. Subsequently, they managed to recover the child safely from the Chiminibhati area and placed him in the custody of the Child Welfare Committee to ensure his safety and well-being. Sub-divisional police officer Pramod Kumar Malik stated that two individuals, including the father, have been taken into custody as investigations into the broader network of individuals involved in this disturbing incident are underway.
