Juca Teles Block gathers a crowd of revelers in São Luiz do Paraitinga

The Juca Teles block attracted thousands of revelers in São Luiz do Paraitinga, marking the start of Carnival 2026 in the city.

The Juca Teles block kicked off Carnival 2026 in São Luiz do Paraitinga, São Paulo, on Saturday, attracting thousands of participants. The block set off at 12:05 PM and was joined by both locals and tourists who came to enjoy the festive atmosphere. This event signifies one of the main attractions of the city's carnival celebrations, drawing attention to the lively culture and tradition of the region.

This year's carnival features approximately 30 blocks that will take a new, shorter route compared to previous years. The procession now begins on Coronel Domingues de Castro Street, turns onto Barão do Paraitinga Street, and culminates at the square in front of the Igreja Matriz. The total distance of about 500 meters is notably reduced from the one-kilometer route of past carnivals, which used to extend to the city's events square.

With the excitement of the Juca Teles block celebrated early in the day, another attraction, the Maria Gasolina block, is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM. The modifications to the route and the variety of blocks in this year's carnival highlight the city's commitment to evolving its festive traditions while still maintaining its cultural heritage, promising an engaging experience for all attendees.
