VIDEO: About 800 kg of stolen electrical wires seized in operation in Timon

A police operation in Timon resulted in the seizure of approximately 800 kg of stolen electrical wires and other materials from two scrapyards, leading to the arrest of the scrapyard owner.

A police operation in Timon, Brazil, successfully apprehended around 800 kg of stolen electrical wires, along with additional materials including 100 energy posts and nearly 1,000 hydraulic parts, during a coordinated effort with agents from the Anti-Corruption Police Department (DICAP) and Equatorial Energia employees. The stolen items were found in two scrapyards owned by the same individual, who was arrested on-site.

Investigators revealed that the stolen wires and materials were allegedly diverted by a contracted employee of Equatorial Energia, a company providing services in the region. Moreover, police indicated that some of the hydraulic parts might have been purloined from Águas de Timon, which raises concerns about the extent of theft within service-related enterprises in the area.

Following his arrest, the owner of the scrapyards was charged with qualified receptation, but he was released shortly after paying a bail of R$16,210. This incident underscores ongoing issues related to theft and corruption within public service and supply lines, prompting local authorities to intensify their oversight and intervention efforts.
