'Delhi has become a gas chamber...,' Yogi Adityanath questions the capital's air quality
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has raised concerns about air pollution in Delhi, describing it as a 'gas chamber' and highlighting the urgent need for environmental preservation during a recent event in Gorakhpur.
During the inauguration of a community hall in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath focused on environmental issues and cleanliness. He pointed out that one of the greatest challenges today is the deteriorating balance of the environment, which requires immediate correction. His remarks included a critical view of the air quality in Delhi, stressing the urgency for improved environmental practices.
Adityanath appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and avoid littering. He specifically addressed the negative impacts of single-use plastics, urging citizens not to dispose of them in drains or on streets. He emphasized that small oversights can lead to significant environmental crises in the future, advocating for changes in individual behavior to protect the environment.
Referencing the severe air pollution in Delhi, he remarked that the air has become so contaminated that it resembles a gas chamber, making breathing difficult and causing eye irritation. He advised vulnerable populations such as asthma patients, the elderly, and children to avoid going outdoors unless necessary, questioning whether such a lifestyle should be considered normal in modern times.
