The impact of smog continues... Will the temperature in Delhi go above normal? Learn about the weather

Air quality in several areas of Delhi remains poor due to smog, raising concerns about the temperature exceeding normal levels.

Smog continues to affect visibility in multiple areas of Delhi, notably around ITO and India Gate, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) is reported at 174 according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), categorized as 'moderate'. In other areas such as Anand Vihar and Ashok Vihar, the AQI has crossed the 'poor' threshold, reaching scores of 229 and 201 respectively, illustrating the wider pollution issue facing the city.

The India Meteorological Department predicts that the weather in Delhi-NCR will feature light cloud cover today, with maximum temperatures expected between 26 to 28 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures hovering around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. While the minimum temperatures are near normal, the maximum can rise by 1.6 to 3.0 degrees above what is typical, indicating ongoing shifts in seasonal temperatures possibly influenced by current pollution levels.

Looking ahead, conditions for tomorrow (February 14) suggest mostly clear skies with a chance of lingering fog in the morning. The anticipated maximum temperatures will range from 27 to 29 degrees Celsius and minimums from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. This fluctuation in temperature alongside persistent air quality issues raises concerns about the health implications for residents in the capital, especially as winter ends and spring approaches with distinct weather patterns.
