Tatuapé's Float Honor 'Biggest Supporter' of the School Will Distribute All Food from the Allegory to Communities in Zona Leste
The Acadêmicos do Tatuapé concluded their parade with a float celebrating the harvest and honoring a deceased young supporter, with food from the float to be donated to local communities in São Paulo's Zona Leste.
The Acadêmicos do Tatuapé samba school showcased a heartfelt float in their recent parade, dedicated to celebrating the harvest and commemorating the memory of Thiago Arakaki, a devoted young supporter who passed away last year. The final allegory of their display featured an array of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, and legumes that not only highlighted the importance of farming but also served to connect the school with their community.
In a generous act of solidarity, all food items used in the float’s scenography will be redistributed to neighborhoods in close proximity to the school’s headquarters in Zona Leste, São Paulo. This initiative highlights the samba school's commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. It also emphasizes the cultural significance of the agricultural harvest in Brazilian society, an aspect that was manifest in the design of the float.
The float was created with the collaboration of members from the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and featured products sourced from the Luiz de Macedo settlement, an agrarian reform area in Apiaí, located in the southwestern region of São Paulo state. The involvement of local farmers in this initiative not only strengthens ties within the community but also serves as a tribute to those who dedicate their lives to agricultural labor, making the parade not just a celebration of samba but also of communal unity and respect for local agriculture.
