Curious accident in Panevėžys region: while trying to tow an overturned truck, another crashed into the recovery vehicle
A truck overturned in the Panevėžys region, leading to a recovery vehicle being struck by another truck while attempting to clear the first incident.
On February 13, a truck with a trailer overturned on a road in the Panevėžys region, causing a significant traffic disruption for about two hours as authorities worked to resolve the situation. Due to adverse weather conditions and the weight of the cargo, the extraction of the overturned truck could not be completed and was rescheduled for the following Saturday morning.
On February 14, as a recovery vehicle approached the site of the overturned truck to assist with the towing, another Mercedes truck, traveling in the same direction, crashed into the recovery vehicle. The impact caused the recovery vehicle to veer off the road and end up in a snowdrift, while part of the overturned truck remained on the street, obstructing traffic further.
This series of events underscores the dangers that can arise in poor weather conditions, especially when multiple heavy vehicles are involved. The recovery efforts highlight the need for careful planning and execution when responding to such incidents, to ensure the safety of both recovery crews and other road users during emergency operations.
