Figure skater Vasiljevs: I don't feel like the book should be closed
Latvian figure skater Vasiljevs reflects on his performance, expressing satisfaction despite some errors during his routine and considers continuing his career beyond the Olympics.
Latvian figure skater Vasiljevs expressed satisfaction with his recent performance, although he was keen to showcase an even better routine. During the ice skating event, a significant mistake occurred when he miscalculated his proximity to the rink's edge, which led to a disruption in his third jump and affected his overall trajectory. Vasiljevs noted that this error impacted his ability to finish his performance as effectively as he hoped.
Despite the challenges faced during the routine, Vasiljevs was proud of the progress he has made since his first Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, almost eight years ago. He believes that his journey has significantly helped him improve, allowing him to enjoy this competition more than before. Vasiljevs reflected on his experiences leading up to these Olympic Games, sharing that he made the decision to participate after the previous Winter Olympics held in Beijing.
Looking ahead, Vasiljevs is uncertain about competing in his fourth Olympic Games but emphasizes that he does not feel ready to conclude his career just yet. He has his sights set on the upcoming World Championships, indicating that there are still significant opportunities ahead for him to showcase his talent and contribute to figure skating before making any decisions about retirement.
