Renntech is reviving the Mercedes SEC with a new V12 Sledgehammer model, featuring significant engine upgrades and a complete restoration of the classic car.
Renntech is set to unveil the Mercedes SEC V12 Sledgehammer, a project that transforms the classic Mercedes SEC, originally produced from 1979 to 1991, into a high-performance beast. The centerpiece of this revival is the M120 V12 engine, a unit previously used in Pagani Zonda and Mercedes CLK GTR models. Renntech has re-engineered and bored the engine to 7.5 liters, achieving an impressive output of 660 horsepower and 881 Nm of torque. Additionally, the vehicle features a manual transaxle transmission with power directed to the rear wheels and advanced carbon-ceramic brake systems paired with custom forged wheels.
The Mercedes SEC was never originally offered with a V12 engine, a gap that Renntech aims to fill with this new modification. The SEC series transitioned to a 12-cylinder configuration only with the introduction of the W140 S-Class. By developing the V12 Sledgehammer, Renntech not only enhances the power and performance but also preserves the classic aesthetics of the SEC through a thorough restoration process. The project includes an exclusive widebody kit, redesigned front fascia, and a new hood that pay homage to the car's legendary status while ensuring modern performance standards are met.
