Beira-Mar's brother-in-law and trafficker's 'arm' in the Northeast is arrested in the Cannabis Polygon
Marinilson Carneiro da Silva, a significant drug wholesaler connected to the Comando Vermelho in Northeast Brazil, was arrested in Pernambuco.
On Friday, police forces from Rio and Pernambuco apprehended Marinilson Carneiro da Silva, one of the leading drug wholesalers associated with the Comando Vermelho in Northeast Brazil. He has been identified as a key player responsible for the purchasing and distribution of drugs on a wholesale level for notorious trafficker Luiz Fernando da Costa, also known as Fernandinho Beira-Mar, who is infamously recognized within drug trafficking circles. His arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
For years, Marinilson had been on the run and was actively engaging in negotiations with marijuana producers within the Cannabis Polygon, a well-known area for cannabis cultivation in the sertão of Pernambuco. His location was revealed following an investigation conducted by the 5th DP (Mem de Sá) of the Rio Civil Police, alongside the supportive efforts of the Civil Police of Pernambuco. His capture in this specific region underscores the collaborative efforts of state law enforcement agencies in tackling drug-related crimes.
Law enforcement stated that Marinilson was critical in maintaining trafficking routes, negotiating with suppliers, and overseeing the quality control of drugs sent to Rio de Janeiro's communities controlled by the Comando Vermelho faction. The implications of his arrest could hinder drug access and distribution channels for the organization, indicating a potential setback for the operations of this powerful drug trafficking group in Brazil's Northeast region.
