In the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador, preparations for the upcoming Carnival festivities are underway, highlighting the region's vibrant culture and traditions. The cantón of Montalvo has developed a comprehensive agenda, which includes activities across both urban and rural settings, reinforcing the community's engagement in the celebrations. The tagline for this year’s events, ‘Tronco Carnaval,’ reflects a deep-rooted cultural identity while appealing to residents and visitors alike.

These events serve as a precursor to the main celebrations, which officially kick off on Friday, February 13, with a significant cultural parade. Mayor Eduardo Troncoso emphasized that participation will extend beyond the local institutions, engaging schools, colleges, and public and private entities in an inclusive manner.
The Carnival festivities are scheduled over the next days, with popular local artist Gerardo Morán, known as 'El Más Querido,' slated to entertain the crowds starting at 4:30 PM on Saturday. This year's events promote a strong sense of community and showcase local heritage, while also attracting tourism, underlining the importance of such cultural gatherings to the social fabric of the region.
