Sesks Faces Tire Issues and Withdrawal in Sweden's WRC Rally Due to Team Mistakes
Latvian driver Sesks experienced multiple tire blowouts due to team mistakes during the first stages of the WRC rally in Sweden, leading to his withdrawal from the race.
During the first stages of the World Rally Championship (WRC) rally in Sweden, all three vehicles prepared by the 'M-Sport Ford' team suffered from tire blowouts. Driver Sesks lost over seven minutes in the first stage after damaging both front tires, indicating significant issues with the car. He expressed his astonishment at the circumstances, stating that one tire exploded without any impact, rendering visibility poor due to a fogged window at the end of the stage.
In the following stage, Sesks' team faced yet another tire blowout. As they approached the last check of the morning section, the Latvian crew opted to use one of their previous tires that had low pressure to ensure they could make it back to service. Despite this strategic choice, it was clear at this point that a high-ranking finish in Sweden was no longer viable for the team.
Ultimately, the team decided to withdraw from the competition on Friday as they had exhausted their supply of spare tires. This decision came after suffering major setbacks in performance, leading to a disappointing end to their day after not completing the four special stages scheduled for that day.
