Authorities in Michoacán seize 1.45 million pesos and several doses of drugs after a raid
In Michoacán, authorities seized 1.45 million pesos in cash and various drugs during a coordinated police operation in the municipality of Jacona.
As part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, the Attorney General's Office of Michoacán executed a search warrant in a property located in the Manantiales subdivision of Curutarán, Jacona municipality. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1.45 million pesos in cash, alongside evidence of illegal activities. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal structures and their financial capabilities in the region. The successful operation was the result of intelligence and fieldwork, which focused on targeting criminal operations within the context of rising concerns over security in Michoacán. The execution of the search warrant was carried out by the General Coordination of the Investigation Police in collaboration with the Zamora Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, they received operational support from the National Defense Secretariat and the National Guard, indicating a comprehensive and strategic intervention. During the raid, a 17-year-old adolescent was apprehended and subsequently handed over to the appropriate authorities. This detainment raises further questions about the involvement of minors in organized crime in the region. The increasing efforts by the state to address crime reflect a broader trend of heightened security measures in Michoacán, a state often linked to drug trafficking and organized crime, as authorities continue to combat these formidable challenges effectively.
