VIDEO: Criminals invade lottery store, steal safe, and find it empty
A lottery store in Itaguaçu, Brazil, was robbed, but the criminals discovered that the safe they stole was empty.
In a surprising turn of events, a lottery store in the center of Itaguaçu, located in the mountainous region of Espírito Santo, was robbed during the early hours of Thursday, October 12. Security footage captured the moment when a group of criminals arrived by car and broke into the store. They rummaged through the cash register and, with the assistance of another individual waiting outside, managed to grab a large safe and loaded it into their vehicle.
Upon arriving at the store the next morning, an employee found the establishment in disarray and promptly contacted the Military Police. Initial reports indicated that approximately R$ 2,500 in cash was stolen from the register. However, the thieves were in for a disappointment as the safe they believed contained valuables was actually empty, a fact confirmed by the store's owner who noted that the safe was broken and destined for disposal soon anyway.
This robbery highlights issues of security in local businesses and raises questions about the effectiveness of crime prevention measures in the region. Although there is no immediate information about the identity of the culprits, the incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by small business owners in maintaining safety and security in their operations.
