Works on the Labruna Bridge: Highway Illia North and Cantilo will be closed for 12 hours

Construction work on the Labruna Bridge will cause the closure of Highway Illia North and Cantilo for 12 hours starting from February 16 at 10 PM.

On Monday, February 16, starting at 10 PM, Highway Illia North and Cantilo will experience a complete closure for 12 hours due to the installation of the eight beams needed for the central structure of the new Labruna Bridge. This major infrastructure project, announced by the City’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility, is aimed at enhancing traffic flow in the area. The construction will ensure that the bridge meets modern engineering standards and improves safety for all road users.

In conjunction with the highway closure, the Paseo del Bajo will also be closed in the northbound direction near Retiro, particularly affecting access to the Labruna and Scalabrini Ortiz bridges. Traffic management plans have been put in place, urging drivers to divert to alternative routes such as Av. Figueroa Alcorta or Av. Del Libertador to minimize disruption. This type of infrastructure work is critical for urban development and often leads to temporary inconvenience for commuters while aiming for long-term benefits.

The ongoing construction is part of a broader initiative to modernize the city’s transportation network, which has faced increased demand in recent years. City officials emphasize the importance of such projects for improving overall mobility, reducing congestion, and ensuring better connectivity within Buenos Aires. Although closures can be frustrating for daily commuters, they underline the city's commitment to investing in its infrastructure for sustainable growth.
