The Alfeios River in the Ilia region of Greece has overflowed, leading to serious flooding issues, especially in Kalivaki, where levees broke and water inundated roadways. The flooding has rendered the Kalivaki-Makrisia road impassable, causing significant disruptions in the area.

Heavy rainfall is cited as a contributing factor to this overflow, compounded by the breach of the Ladonas Dam, which further increased the water levels in the Alfeios River. This situation has not only affected transportation but has also submerged large areas of agricultural land, leading to substantial damage to local crops.

In response to the dangerous conditions, the mayor of Andritsaina-Krestena, Sakis Balioukos, has urged residents to avoid using the flooded roads until water levels recede and safety is restored.
