A São Paulo court has established that businessman Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos is now a defendant facing charges of murder in the death of his wife, Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva. The incident occurred when Maria, 25, fell from the tenth floor of their residence in Vila de Andrade, in the southern zone of São Paulo, an event the prosecution argues was a homicide rather than suicide. Bispo, 40, has been in custody since February 9 due to the serious nature of the accusations against him.

The São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office contends that evidence points towards murder and has dismissed the possibility of suicide. The case remains without a scheduled trial date.
