Several large companies are interested in acquiring E-Piim Production
Multiple large companies express interest in the acquisition of E-Piim Production, while the Estonian government aims to keep the company under local ownership.
The Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs, Erkki Keldo, has stated that the government hopes to ensure that E-Piim Production remains under Estonian ownership even if the company goes bankrupt. One potential solution being considered is offering a loan guarantee to any buyer of the factory. Several major corporations have shown interest in acquiring E-Piim, with Joakim Helenius suggesting that interested parties could form a consortium for the acquisition.
Keldo emphasized the importance of continuing operations at E-Piim Production's milk factory in Paide, arguing that without local ownership, Estonian dairy producers might have to export raw milk out of the country. The state is prepared to assist the company, which has filed for bankruptcy, in maintaining its activities while ensuring it remains in the hands of Estonian capital. The Minister noted that the government's first preference is not to intervene directly in the company's administration, but rather to provide additional guarantees to private investors willing to finance the acquisition.
Peep Peterson, the head of the company that owns E-Piim, confirmed that there is interest from various parties in purchasing E-Piim Production. This situation raises significant implications for the local dairy industry and reflects ongoing challenges facing Estonian businesses seeking to navigate economic difficulties while maintaining local ownership and production capabilities.
