According to Keldo, the state wants to continue operations at the E-Piim factory in Paide
Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Erkki Keldo announced the government's support for the E-Piim milk production factory in Paide to continue operations despite its bankruptcy situation.
Erkki Keldo, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure in Estonia, has expressed the government's intent to support the E-Piim milk production factory in Paide, which has filed for bankruptcy. Both the ministry and the Estonian Entrepreneurship and Innovation Agency (EISA) are actively working to assist the company in continuing its operations on the basis of Estonian capital. Keldo highlighted the importance of the factory for food security in Estonia and emphasized the desire for it to operate after the bankruptcy crisis.
Keldo noted that the previous disputes among owners were concerning, but he sees the possibility of the factory functioning under Estonian capital management as a positive development. This change would ensure better coordination and collaboration with local milk producers, which is crucial for maximizing the value derived from domestic raw materials. Furthermore, he indicated that discussions are already underway with banks and various enterprises to seek a viable solution for the factory's future.
In addition to ensuring job preservation, Keldo stressed the significance of maximizing local resource utilization, which would yield fairer compensation for Estonian dairy producers and processors. The Minister expressed that it is essential for Estonia not to sell its milk cheaply on the international market, advocating for measures that would strengthen the local dairy sector and reinforce the nation's food security.
