More Finnish skiers heading home

Several Finnish skiers are returning home from the Milano-Cortina competitions as the tournament concludes.

As the skiing competitions in Milano-Cortina wind down, more Finnish athletes are making their way back home. Sprint skier Amanda Saari left for Finland on Wednesday, with Krista Pärmäkoski following suit on Friday. Jasmi Joensuu and Jasmin Kähärä are expected to return at the end of next week, indicating a significant shift as the competition nears its conclusions.

Remaining Finnish skiers including Kerttu Niskanen, Johanna Matintalo, Vilma Ryytty, and Vilma Nissinen are set to compete in the final event, the 50-kilometer traditional mass start scheduled for February 22. Additionally, a 4x7.5 kilometer relay will feature Matintalo, Niskanen, Ryytty, and Joensuu, with the first two legs skied traditionally and the last two in a freestyle technique. The team's coaching staff expresses high expectations for their performance.

Head coach Reijo Jylhä has confidently remarked that, barring major failures, gold is likely to go to Sweden with Norway taking the silver. He emphasized the anticipated strong performance from Johanna and Kerttu in the upcoming events. The distinct strategy and depth of talent within the team suggest a competitive outlook as they aim to overcome formidable rival teams like Germany, Switzerland, and potentially the USA in the final races of the competition.
