The Metrovía public transport system in Ecuador has announced the addition of 25 new air-conditioned buses to its trunk line 1, reflecting an investment of approximately $6.5 million by the operator. The official announcement took place at the Plaza de la Administración, with key figures including Tatiana Coronel, the acting mayor, and other city officials present to highlight the importance of these new units for public transportation efficiency and comfort. The inclusion of these new buses is part of a broader commitment by the operator, Consorcio Metroquil, to improve the overall transportation system in the region.
Néstor Reyes, the president of Consorcio Metroquil, emphasized that this addition fulfills promises made to enhance the quality of public transport services. Out of the total investment, 31 units were previously delivered in 2019 and have been in continuous operation, while the latest 25 units represent the latest batch aimed at further modernizing the fleet. This progressive enhancement is crucial for improving the citizens' travel experience, especially in a bustling city environment like Guayaquil.
As the new buses are set to be operational following the carnival festivities, local commuters can expect significant improvements in their daily travel. The addition of air-conditioned vehicles also aligns with growing demands for comfort in public transportation amidst hot weather conditions, underlining the operator's responsiveness to citizen needs and its pledge to deliver consistent quality service to the populace.
